Lock and load
We will drive this job to Michigan this weekend, put it all in a rental truck and head east. The past few weeks I have collected large cardboard from the recycle center so we can wrap these parts and keep them safe on the journey. Duck tape.

Fini
So we have finaly got the whole enchilada together!
So what do we do?
We take it apart completely,
so we can finish it.
On edge
So after the tops are made, we added a front edge detail. This is in keeping with the subtle step and round of the door panels.
Setting up the counters on the cabinets. We made the end cabinet step back and down and has the contrasting top color. This cabinet is under and in front of an upper corner cabinet, so I made it a little shallower and lower to allow easy access to the plates and cups that will be kept on the shelves above.
counter culture
Making the counters, formica style. There are a lot of colors and textures out there, we chose an uplifting orange color with some pattern, also a blue grey contrasting section that looks like
"Petoskey stones".
Fun on glue, with glue, or I mean.

Drawers
Even with the modern drawer guides like these cabinets, there is still almost as much fitting and tweeking as a wood on wood guide system like the dresser below. The ease of extension and roller bearings of the newer guides are nice, however the sure feeling and smooth vacuum like pull of the wood on wood drawer is appropriate for some pieces. If the shoe fits, wear it in the mud.
