Using the eye and the hand

Here I'm using a clamp to bend a stick of wood to draw my curved lines, I transfer them onto the leg and then bandsaw and shape the leg.

Checking for true lines

Checking for true mental capacity....

Machine work, bench work

Machines can be used to shape parts,
I try to knock off as much wood shaping as possible before I hit the bench.

Using a plane to round and shape my leg deign. Working at the bench is a joy, I've got music on and I can drift mentally, its very much like meditation, until someone bothers me, like my brother.

Square holes

Cutting the mortises on the legs, these joints will carry the weight of the desk and need to be strong.

I have a specific machine that cuts a square hole for joinery.

Desk parts

Cutting out rough parts for the desk, I have kept this wood for many years waiting for the right project. It has some very nice curl figure to it and nice thickness for the parts.

I am getting every piece I can from the same board.
